Freeholder Director Cappelli doesn’t pay his taxes.
Cappelli owes $21,000 in taxes
From: CCGOP
Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. currently owes back property taxes totaling more than $21,000, an amount comparable to his current freeholder salary. Last year Collingswood, the very place Freeholder Louis Cappelli is delinquent in taxes, laid off public safety employees due to lack of budget founds.
Tom Booth, Camden County Republican Chairman offered, “While it is understandable Mr. Cappelli may be going through a personal situation, that certainly does not relieve him of his obligation to pay his property taxes. In fact, as the Director of the Board of Freeholders, which is primarily responsible for raising Camden County’s property taxes to their current ridiculous levels, he has a duty to pay the same taxes he expects every other Camden County resident to pay. Many people go through divorces and still manage to pay their property taxes. According to the newspaper, he owns close to $1M in real estate, so he presumably has the money to pay. By the size of the delinquency, it seems the taxes may not have been paid in some time.”
Just today, Camden County laid off 260 county employees in an attempt to close a budget gap of nearly $50 million. Scores more are scheduled to be laid off from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office imminently.
The Camden County Democrats embody what happens when there is failure to lead. This year there will be a chance for our county to make a difference and the people will have a chance to remove the failed leadership of Cappelli and his friends.
